Walpole St Andrew runner Matt Pyatt has competed in a couple of events in the last week.

Last Wednesday evening he travelled to Great Yarmouth to run in the Great Yarmouth 5-mile road race.

This was the last in the three-race series.

The course was two laps, with half being along a blustery seafront.

Pyatt had an excellent race to finish fourth overall out of the 267 finishers in a personal best time of 26-40, beating his previous best over the distance by a huge 44 seconds.

Previously he went with his club Ryston Runners to the National Masters Road Relays held at Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield.

This was a relay event for over 35’s.

His team of six each ran 5k legs and Pyatt was the fastest runner of the club, completing the first stage in 15-55.

This helped his team to 18th overall out of the 50 teams competing, which was quite an achievement for a club much smaller than the majority of teams there.
