Wayne stays clear at top

WAYNE Green continued his good form in the sporting-medals.co.uk singles pool league with a faultless display against County A player Gareth Neale. His 7-2 win keeps him three points clear of David Marsh at the top of the Tuesday night table.

Three times world champion Andy Lucas found the handicap of starting five frames behind Marsh too big a hurdle to cross, Marsh ran out a 7-5 winner while Alan Mason took full advantage of Andy’s defeat to leapfrog into third place with a 7-4 win over Aly Roberts.

In the Monday section still unbeaten Shane Balding moved six points clear at the top with a 7-1 win over Barry Ellis. Scott Chambers stays second and Chris Back third, despite neither playing. John Dawson beat James Beacham and Scott Elliott 7-5 to move up to fourth.

Elliott won 7-6 against newly promoted England A team player Darren McCarthy, who went off to the European Championships. News came through that McCarthy won three out of three in his England A debut against Scotland.
