Ian Pike of the Fenland RC was first rider home in the Wisbech Wheelers ‘25’ re-run after postponement in May.

His time of 55.45 gave him victory by just two seconds over Charlie Nurse of North Norfolk Wheelers in 55.47. Andy Bean of the home club was third in 56.30. The ladies section was taken by Sally Withey of Norwich RC in 1.04.36 with Elaine Roesner of Wheelers second with 1.09.55 and Karen Eaton of Wolsey RC third in 1.10.01.

Jacob Shailles of Wisbech was fastest junior in 1.00.11.

In fact Wisbech swept up the team prize with father and son team of Doug and Mat McClure joining Andy Bean in victory and a clean sweep in the Handicap with Andrew Ward first, Mat McClure second and David Webster third. Wisbech rider John Brown took second in the Vets Standard competition behind Chris Nudds of CC Breckland.

A 19.24 pb for Wisbech road racer Jason Kierman (St Ives CC) gave him overall victory in the VTTA 10 miler near Cambridge on Saturday.

Team – A Bean / M McClure / D McClure (vet).

Saturday, VTTA 10 miles: Jason Kierman (vet) St Ives CC 19.34, Denese Hallahan (lady vet) 27.22.
