Williamson at the double for ladies

Wisbech Town Ladies 3, Watton 1

Wisbech had beaten Watton convincingly earlier in the season and hoped that the game would follow the same pattern.

Wisbech were awarded a penalty flick, but the Watton goalie saved it.

Not long into the second half Lisa Williamson added to her season’s tally with a brilliantly worked goal.

Williamson soon bagged her second and she ended up in the back of the goal with the ball. After a little pressure Watton were awarded a short corner, which converted after a scramble.

Following well worked attacking play at both ends Hannah Strickle scored her third of the season.

Player of the match was Leanne Williamson. Wisbech host Ipswich III’s at Harecroft Road next Saturday at 1pm.

Wisbech Ladies 2nds 6, Spalding Ladies 2nds 2

Wisbech maintained joint top position with Newmarket following a convincing home win on Saturday.

Wisbech improved by releasing the ball early and worked the play around.

Laura Overland (PoM) earned a well deserved hat-trick, Gilly Dunn with a brace and Lou Sandall with the opener. Georgie Woolmer and Emily Brooker found their feet quickly in new positions on the left.

Wisbech will be presented with sponsored shirts at the clubhouse on February 9 at the top of the table clash with Newmarket.

Next outdoor training, weather permitting, outdoor 6.30 on Thursday, January 24. See www.wisbechtownhockeyclub.co.uk
