Mollie Allen (17) from Wimblington, travelled to High Wycombe and Aldershot over the last two weekends chasing British Swimming Championship and Rio Olympic Qualifying Trials times.

She entered five events at Wycombe, picking up five gold medals in the 200m Individual Medley, 50m & 100m Freestyle, 50m & 100m Backstroke.

She set four new personal best times, and broke longstanding Eastern Region records in the 50m Freestyle 26.26 and 50m Backstroke 29.47. These events were well contested from many of the top national clubs and included numerous swimmers from Team GB.

Last weekend at Aldershot, Mollie only entered one event, swimming a new PB time in the 100m Backstroke in a smart 1.04.00, finishing a very close second to British record holder and Team GB swimmer, Anna Maine.

Mollie’s achievements have gained her the required qualification times in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke for the British Championship and Rio Qualifying Trial events held at Glasgow on April 13 and 14.

The Wisbech Grammar School student is in the first year of her A levels.

Beyond this, Mollie has aspirations to continue with her studies in the USA, where she hopes to obtain a full scholarship to gain her degree and continue with her swimming career.

Mollie is a member of the City of Peterborough Swimming Club (COPS) and trains eight sessions per week under guidance of head coach
Ben Negus.
