Wisbech battle to third in Mendis Trophy Gala

Wisbech Swimming Club worked hard to take third place in the Mendis Trophy Gala at the Hudson Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Losing out to Norwich Swans and Dereham, two strong teams, Wisbech nevertheless matched its 2014 result.

The competition drew excellent Wisbech performances, including six first places, eight seconds and 14 thirds, while 17 personal best times were achieved, Carl Purvey taking three, and Jacob Rhodes and Elouise Youngs two each.

Wisbech’s victories fell to the boys 13/U freestyle relay team, Bryony Pack (13/U 100m butterfly), Alex Gallagher (11/U breaststroke), Robson Pack (15/U 100m butterfly), Sam Smith (11/U backstroke) and Carl Purvey (13/U 100m freestyle).
