Bitter winds and rain kept most riders away from the Wisbech Wheelers Tuesday evening event but a small break in the weather allowed the brave and determined few to compete.
Triathlete, Mat McClure, was barely affected and recorded an excellent 22.39 although most riders were over a minute down on their usual times. John Talbot arrived nearly two minutes later, and Andrew Ward took third. The first lady home was Becky Hamilton, while juvenile Eve McInerney was pulled out by her dad and team partner Mike after eight miles of suffering.
Things were greatly improved by Saturday for the King’s Lynn Open ‘10’ and the event was won by ex-Lynn rider Daniel Bloy now with Velovelocity in a remarkable 20.26, only 4 secs outside the course record.
Fastest of the Wisbech contingent was 50+ track specialist, Ken Roesner of the Lichfield City RC track squad and his wife Elaine headed up the Ladies.
