Wisbech Ladies over 35’s reached the final of the England Hockey Knockout Competitions Investec Women’s O35s Shield in style.

Wisbech started the semi-final as the better side with all the possession early on and went one goal up in the first 10 minutes through Laura Overland.

Wisbech continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded with a short corner which Overland fired in from the top of the D.

The second half was a more even game with both sides having chances, however Lorraine Wallis ensured Wisbech kept a clean sheet for the third successive game. Wisbech’s third goal came from a penalty flick which was scored by Tania White.

The player of the match award was given to Erika Harvey and Tania White.

Wisbech now play Barnes in the final on April 30 at the Olympic Hockey Park, Lee Valley in London.

l Wisbech juniors played local King’s Lynn club Pelicans on Sunday morning. It was Wisbech’s first competitive game this season, fielding a range of ages from 9 to 13.

Wisbech won all four games with exceptional team performances, but a special mention goes to Jamie Hallatt and Ryan Jackson for their leadership skills with the youngsters. Scorers were Oliver Overland (3), Oliver Smithee (2), Lewis Stapleton, Matthew Boyall and Jackson.
