EH Trophy Round 1, Sunday

Wisbech Ladies 3, Maidstone 2

Against ex-Prem side Maidstone, Wisbech made the breakthrough with a well worked goal slotted home by Katie Rodger.

Wisbech scored their next two goals inside 10 minutes via Claire Apted and Rodger.

Maidstone piled on the pressure and scored one in each half. Wisbech absorbed everything Maidstone had to throw at them despite having to finish the game with 10 players for a yellow card offence.

Wisbech Ladies 3, North Norfolk 1

After a tough league defeat last week, Wisbech were back to winning ways.

Wisbech went into the break 1-0 up after a sweetly struck short corner by Laura Overland was deflected in by Claire Apted.

Apted and Natalie Ward added strikes, while Rosie Stevenson made an outstanding save.

WTHC Ladies 3rds 8,

Cambridge City 5ths 0

Wisbech made it three wins in a row with four goals in each half.

Scorers: Holly Stevenson 4, Shelley Coleman 3, Joey Gomm.

PoM: Holly Stevenson and co-captain Kate Stevenson.

St Albans 4, Wisbech 1

Wisbech were humbled by last season’s relegated national league side St Albans despite taking an early lead through Ashley Welland, when he finished coolly after a scramble in the circle.

The fenmen did enjoy passages of possession but again were found wanting in the critical areas of the final third and St Albans went into
half-time with a slender 2-1 lead.

Wisbech have a crunch game at home to Blueharts next Saturday, push back 2.30pm.

Cambridge City 5ths 7,

Wisbech 4ths 1

From the start City with a strong midfield were able to start scoring goals from the first whistle.

Howard Atkins scored a consolation from a lone penalty corner.

Next week: v Alford (h) 4pm start.
