The King’s Lynn Cycling Club traditional Good Friday 10 mile TT was the victim of poor conditions and the turnout was lower than usual but the rain stopped and participants were able to set off into a damp cold wind.
The event was won by Wisbech rider Mat Webster, now at Loughborough University, in 22.20. His dad Dave, a veteran riding for KLCC, was the next Wisbech rider with 24.25, despite losing 20 seconds with a late start.
Other Wisbech riders were John Talbot in 24.55, followed in by old hand Mike MacInerney in 25.52, both Wisbech Wheelers vets.
On Saturday lady vet Denese Hallahan started her season’s campaign with a 31.13 in the Salesengine Open ‘10’ on Saturday. Another prolific competitor from Wisbech, Andrew Bean now riding for the Pedalrevolution racing team, having spun his legs off to win the Diss and District 25-mile restricted gear competition (72-inch for equipment geeks) last week, took fourth in the Yarmouth CC open ‘10’ on Good Friday. He was second to his team-mate James Trenchard in the Stowmarket Open ‘20’ on Saturday with a sizzling 46.34 for the distance.
