Wisbech Rugby Club U13’s have reached the Cambridgeshire County Cup final at Cambridge and will face Cambridge on their home ground on Sunday.
The U14’s Fenland Barbarians fielded a strong squad at Kesteven and their reward for several weeks of extra training was a comprehensive win against a well organised team 46-0.
The teams were well matched in the first half with Barbarians running in two tries but as the game progressed into the second half they took a tight grip with superior fitness to run in six more tries with three conversions without reply.
Two tries each by Theo Hoyles-Simpson, Henry Hoyles, Elliott Scott, one apiece for Archie Lyall and Aaron Brundle and three drop kicked conversions by David Betts.
Assistant coach Chris Finlay said: “An excellent performance by every player who showed strength of character, in their fitness and team play.”
The Barbarians have progressed into the NLD (Notts/Lincs/Derbys) shield semi-finals against Chesterfield at Sleaford Rugby Club on March 22.
