Wisbech third in final

Wisbech Swimming Club produced an excellent performance to secure third place in the Junior Fenland League final with 120 points.

City of Peterborough (COPs) won the final with 185.

Head coach, Greg Marsters said: “To make the final five out of 15 teams in the league was an achievement for us, but then to finish third on the night was brilliant. We are swimming against clubs that are three or four times larger than we are. I am very proud of my swimmers.”

Results were, 1st place: Billy Wilkshire (2).

2nd: Alex Gallagher (2), Tom Locke (2), Carl Purvey, Charlie Loates, Eloise Youngs, Jacob Rhodes, Lauren Lester, Paul Defty.

3rd: Briony Pack (3), Megan Kierman (2), Molly Thomas (2), Billy Wilkshire, Carl Purvey, Charlie Loates, Eloise Youngs, Jacob Rhodes, Rio Howlett, Squadron Freestyle Relay team,

4th: Tom Barlow (3), Bethan Ahearn (2), Briony Pack, Charlie Loates, Emily Thomas, Louisa Rowell, Megan Kierman.

5th: Alex Gallagher (2), Ben Knowles, Briony Pack, Elouise Youngs, Megan Kierman, Sasha Kitching, Tom Barlow.

Some 21 personal best times were achieved from 44 races by: Bryony Pack (3) Tom Locke (2) Billy Wilkshire (2) Elouise Youngs (2) Bethan Ahearn (2) Tom Barlow, Megan Kierman, Charlie Loates, Rio Howlett, Paul Defty, Alex Gallagher, Ben Knowles, Emily Thomas, Carl Purvey, Jacob Rhodes.

Billy Wilkshire and Charlie Loates both beat cut off times in their 50m freestyle swims.
