For the first time, Wisbech Swimming Club fielded two Anglian League teams as it hosted Round 1 at the Hudson Sports Centre on Saturday.

In 30 races, Wisbech ‘A’ took 17 first places for 12 personal best times, adding 11 second places and three thirds to win the gala with 107 points.

Bryony Pack established three PBs as she won the 15/U 100m butterfly, freestyle and individual medley events, while Paul Defty (15/U 100m breaststroke and IM) and Alice Dennis (15/U 100m breaststroke and backstroke), also won their races with new PBs.

Wisbech ‘B’ notched up three wins, six seconds and 21 thirds, establishing 19 PBs and finishing third with 71 points. Victorious swimmers were Robson Pack (Open 50m butterfly), Jacob Rhodes (15/U 100m backstroke, PB) and Mary O’Neil (13/U 100m breaststroke, PB).

In the next round on May 9, Wisbech ‘A’ travel to Lynn and Wisbech ‘B’ to Boston.
