Neale-Wade Academy in March have reached the County Schools Under 13 Girls Football Final after an outstanding 2-1 win against Comberton School.

Neale-Wade opened the scoring through Hana Howsam to take a deserved 1-0 half-time lead. Comberton struck back in the second half before the same player netted again from a tight angle. Neale-Wade’s spirited defence held firm against a late bombardment from the visitors to take the girls into a final against St Ives tomorrow (Thursday 12).

PE teacher and team manager Jenny Lucas congratulated the girls on an outstanding team display.

Squad: Hana Howsam, Naomi McGarvie, Holly Patrick, Hollie Blair, Loren Hooks, Jordan John, Lauren Hire, Darcey Howe, Connie Gee and Shayla Nicholson.

l Neale-Wade Academy U13 boys cricket team beat Sir Harry Smith, Whittlesey in the group stages of the Fred Trueman League.

Scores: NWA 112-1 off 20 overs (Douglas Furlong 32 not out, Sam Green 25 not out). SHA 50-9 off 20 overs (Brandon Pearce three wickets, Hannah Howsam two wickets).
