Chatteris gained promotion from CCA Senior 3 on Saturday with a comprehensive 165-run win against Granta thirds at home with Kurt Cunningham hitting a century.
They batted first and put on 30 runs inside just three overs, most of them being fours from opener Connor Cunningham, who had just three singles out of his 35 runs with the rest in boundaries.
Brother Kurt compiled his fourth century of the season and equalled his highest score this term with a brilliant 129 not out to take Chatteris to a competitive 247 for five from their 45 overs, with Mark Leach also impressing with a good 44.
When the run chase got under way Granta got off to a good start, putting on 30 for the first wicket inside six overs, but after that there was a massive collapse with wickets falling in successive overs, the away side finally being all out for 82. Joe Menarry returned excellent figures of four for 25 from his 12 overs, which included five maidens.
Chatteris have a chance of winning the league but have to win their remaining two games and hope Burwell slip up and drop points in their final games.
