Seymour ton-up for fifth Sunday in a row

Steve Seymour smashed his fifth consecutive Sunday century, when his unbeaten 111 helped March cruise to a 10-wicket win over Rutland League Division 1 basement side Stamford Town.

The Australian, who has broken all club and league records, scored 14 boundaries in total, including three sixes. His opening partner David Hodson cracked nine boundaries in his 81 not out during the undefeated first wicket stand of 200.

During the Stamford innings of 197-7, skipper Stuart Mills helped set up his side’s fourth straight win with figures of 4-38. He was backed by Josh Jackman’s 2-42.

The 2nd Xl lost by seven wickets at The Avenue on Sunday to Essex side Elmdon. This friendly fixture came to an end after a 35-year history.

Both sides had past players watching, as March posted 129 all out, with 3rd Xl skipper Matt Hubbard top-scoring with 41 at number 10 and 15-year-old Adam Conyard making an unbeaten 34.

Elmdon eased home quite comfortably, with teenagers Conyard, Josh Fox, and Sam Clarke each picking up a wicket.
