WISBECH Town lost by 41 runs in their last Cambs Tucker League Division 1 game of the campaign to visiting champions Ramsey.
Wisbech skipper Gary Freear commented: “They were up for it because they needed to win it for the title, and we were going through the motions.”
Ramsey were dismissed for 153 in the 47th over, Kieran Haynes 3-33, Drew Jones 2-21, Craig Johnson 2-42 from 16 overs and Gary Freear 3-56 also from 16 overs.
In reply Wisbech slumped to 17-5 and only number seven batsman Gary Freear 67 and number nine Johnson 11 reached double figures.
Wisbech were all out for 112 in the 32nd over, with Freear passing 1500 runs and 70 wickets for the season to complete an excellent all-round effort.
Freear said: “Hopefully we can turn it around next year and we can come back with another couple of signings. It was a bad end to a disappointing season.”
The points that Ramsey recorded in this match ensured they won the league by a single point from Foxton.
Wisbech ended their Rutland League Division 2 season with a loss to Ufford Park by 8 wickets on Sunday.
Openers Ivan Burgess 33 and Carl Pope 60 gave Wisbech a good start before a middle order collapse.
Zak Brown not out 43 and Drew Jones 45 led the recovery to 234-8 from their 45 overs.
Ufford got the runs for two down with more than two overs to spare thanks to opener Keymer’s 108. Brown took 1-26 and Jones 1-39.
