Wisbech Town reached the John Wilcox Cup final with a very good 29-run win against Oundle on Sunday.

A weakened Wisbech side made a good start with openers Carl Pope 81 and Danny Haynes 21.

They did falter a little after that but Dom Stannard 19, Danny Emmington and Ivan Burgess 57 led the recovery to take them to 244 all out.

Oundle were also not at their strongest but also got off to a good start before Matt Parrin claimed three wickets for 16 runs.

Kieran Haynes and Ivan Burgess also picked up three wickets as Oundle were eventually bowled out for 215.

Wisbech will meet either Peterborough Town or Bourne in the final.

Skipper Gary Freear played in the Presidents Day match against Wisbech Old Boys and finished on the winning side.

The Old Boys scored 204 with Matt Gill 46, Sean Claxton 45 and Billy Apted 36.

Brad Apted scored 84, Sam Albutt 48 and Freear 28 not out as Wisbech reached victory for the loss of six wickets.

Wisbech seconds lost by seven runs against Werrington in Rutland League Division 5.

Werrington scored 213 all out with Drew Jones 5-44 and John Mallett 2-22.

Nick Pack hit 65 for Wisbech and Lawrence Twell 37, but they fell seven runs short.

In the Fenland Trophy Wisbech thirds lost by 119 runs against Somersham.

Somersham reached 224 for nine in their 40 overs with 14-year-old Brodie Ellis taking five for 61.

Wisbech were all out for 105 with Tom Chapman 31 top scoring.
