Wisbech Town’s Cricket Week was again a fantastic success and the biggest in the event’s six-year history with 107 young cricketers aged 7-16 taking part.
They enjoyed the three-day academy taking part in batting, bowling and fielding masterclasses, a number of games and competitions as well as four matches taking place at the ground on Wednesday.
On Monday evening the Dads beat the Lads, in a close and exciting game in the Mendis Cup. The Mums also won their game against the Lads in a match that saw just a little bit of biased umpiring to help the ladies.
The under 15s lost in the Hare and Hounds Challenge Cup for the first time. Toby Nulty scored 100 not out for March as they scored 147 in their 20 overs and Wisbech fell just 10 runs short in reply.
On Friday it was Presentation Day and players of the year were: under 9 Lewis Shipley, under 11 Rhys Howell, under 12 Luke Marney, under 13 Oliver Short, under 14 Brodie Ellis, under 15 Matt Dawson, under 16 Jason Esser. Brodie Ellis won performance of the year by a Wisbech player and Toby Nulty from March won performance of the year by an opposition player.
