Wisbech Town Cricket Club’s first team suffered another close Cambs Tucker League defeat on Saturday.
They lost at home to Godmanchester Town by two wickets at Harecroft Road, two weeks after losing by one wicket at Sawston.
The hosts were frustated by the Godmanchester ninth wicket pair M Durrant and P Jefferson, who got the 17 runs the visitors needed to secure victory, with little time to spare in 46.2 overs.
Wisbech had posted a competitive total of 191 for 9 from their 48 overs.
Skipper Alan Burton won the toss and decided to bat. He again led the way, the county player top-scoring with 77 off 111 balls. Burton hit seven boundaries and shared in a second-wicket stand of 71 with Gary Freear.
Fellow Cambs batsman Freear added 42 with six fours and a six, wicketkeeper/batsman Josh Bowers 10, Danny Emmington 10 and Sam Rippington a breezy 22 not out off 19 balls with one six.
The Wisbech wicket-takers were Gary Freear 14-1-60-4, Simon Freear 14-2-50-2, Rippington 8.2-2-48-1 and Burton 8-2-22-1.
