Halloween in Wisbech can mean only one thing, little horrors throughout the town and surrounding areas are invited to the Horsefair Shopping Centre’s successful Trick or Treat event.
For the past five years youngsters have been enjoying this free event courtesy of the centre, which has even won a nationally recognised award due to its popularity.
The event is designed to offer youngsters a safe environment to Trick or Treat, rather than going out onto the streets at night and this year’s event, which runs from 3pm – 5pm on Wednesday, 31st October, promises to be even better with more attractions for children.
Nearly all of the centre’s stores will be taking part, giving children an opportunity to pick up even more treats, plus, after the event youngsters can head over to the Wisbech Social Club and Institute opposite the Horsefair’s car park for a pre-teens Halloween disco. The event will run from 5pm – 7pm and there will be a pumpkin carving and fancy dress competition. Entry is £5 per child and this price includes supper for tickets call 01945 587437.
On arrival, youngsters can come along to the centre’s information room to collect their creepy map, their first treat and goodie bag to collect their treats in. The map will direct them to the shops that will be waiting to be Trick or Treated.
The event is completely free for children, who must be accompanied by an adult and dressed in a Halloween themed costume.
Prizes will be up for grabs for the best dressed boy and girl on the day and the Mayor of Wisbech will be judging the costumes at 4pm outside the centre’s Co-op store.
Youngsters can enjoy a free fairground ride and enjoy creations made by a balloon modeller, and there will also be a hook-a-duck stall, this activity is not included in the centre’s free activities.
Plus, the famous Sonic Manipulator will return to the centre to entertain children and their families with his amazing light and music show and children’s favourite, Spider Mountain will be available for youngsters to climb up.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Horsefair manager, Kevin Smith said: “Everyone at the centre is very excited about the Halloween trick or treat event. We’ve got some new additions to the activities on the day and the party afterwards should be popular for those already in their fancy dress costumes.”
The event will run from 3pm – 5pm on Wednesday 31st October at the Horsefair Shopping Centre.
