The Wisbech Players mark their 60th anniversary this year and are starting their celebrations with a bang.

The amateur dramatic group has snapped up the rights to perform Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘Neighbourhood Watch’.

‘Neighbourhood Watch’ is Ayckbourn’s 75th play and was only released to a amateur arena last year. It follows the normally quiet Bluebell Hill development. The residents set up a group after a trespasser is spotted but what begins as a well-intentioned scheme ends in violence and acrimony.

The play will be performed from April 22 to 26 at the Angles Theatre, Wisbech. A read-through will take place tomorrow (Thursday) followed by auditions on Monday, January 27 at Mendis Restaurant, Old Market, Wisbech, from 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome.

The Wisbech Players will be holding their AGM on Tuesday, February 11 at Mendis, from 7.30pm. The meeting is open to anyone interested in amateur theatre.
