Wisbech Town Council brands Christmas tree an ‘absolute disgrace’ as they call for replacement

A council has called the town’s new Christmas tree an “absolute disgrace” and is in talks with its supplier to get a replacement.

The tree, located in Wisbech’s Market Place, has bare patches and browning sections, leaving councillors and residents unhappy with its look.

Wisbech Town Council has confirmed it is in contact with its supplier, and is hoping that a replacement tree will be sent soon in time for the festive season.

Cllr Steve Tierney said: “It is not what we expected.

“We have contacted the supplier. Our contractor does not make the judgment on the quality of the tree.

“Our officer arrived and said that it was just not good enough.”

In a Facebook post, a spokesperson from the town council called the tree an “absolute disgrace”.

“We are aware of the state of the real Christmas tree that has been delivered. We have immediately been on to the provider and demanded a replacement,” they added.

“We hope to have an update soon.”
