THE controversial adventure playground at Wisbech’s Waterlees Road will be officially opened on May 7 from noon to 4pm.
The date has been released in the wake of Cambs County Council announcing the playground is one step closer to completion now the final piece of play equipment has been installed.
The ‘self build’ area is the first of its kind in the world and has been specially designed for the playground.
The climbing frame posts have been installed and children using the site will be able to attach decks and side panels to make platforms and dens.
The equipment also has a series of climbing nets and rope walkways that can all be adjusted and moved by the children as part of their play.
The decks, sides and nets will be available to use during staffed sessions at the playground.
More details about the opening event will be available soon.
The playground, which has cost just under one million pounds to build, has not been popular with some residents since its installation and has attracted anti-social behaviour.
