Air ambulance called to Benwick horse rider

THE East Anglian Air Ambulance was called to Benwick this morning (Monday January 9) after a 37 year-old woman rider fell from her horse.

The crew was called at around 10.30am to assist the patient who had sustained a fracture to her shoulder in a remote field which road crews were unable to access.

The medical team aboard Anglia Two, based at Cambridge Airport, landed in a field close by. The doctor and paramedic team administered pain relief and applied a splint to her injuries before airlifting her from the field to a landing site nearby.

There they met a waiting ambulance on the nearest road and she was then taken on, by road, to hospital in Hinchingbrooke for further assessment and treatment.
