Artistic youngsters have helped a store’s fundraising for March Air Cadets.
The Anglia Co-operative foodstore in Badgeney Road has adopted the 1220 (March) Squadron of the Air Training Corps as its cause for the year – and its latest efforts were a colouring competition and a guess the number of sweets in a jar poser for children.
The two children’s competitions netted £32. Lily Cousins, of March, won the colouring competition and Ben Neugebauer, of March, won the sweets competition – both scooping a selection of sweets as their prizes.
The store raised around £400 for its 2012 cause for the year, the 1st March Scouts, and they are on course to match that for the Air Cadets this year.
The Air Cadets received £300 earlier this year as a result of the store’s Token of Support community fundraiser and with a guess the weight of the baby competition, staff collection and other events planned in the build-up to Christmas, the £400 target is well within reach.
Store community champion Bec Steward said: “We had a very good year for the Scouts and we should match it for the Air Cadets – we get such good support from our customers.”
