Antique and collectors’ sale

RICHARD Barnwell of Clifford Cross Auctions Ltd, conducted an Antiques and Collectors’ Sale at The Wisbech Auction Halls, on March 22 and 23 which drew buyers from all over the country.

A total of over 700 lots were offered for sale. Some of the chief prices realised were: An important early 20th Century photograph album containing over 140 black and white photographs of sailing ships dating from the mid 19th Century up to the 1930s which went for £580; An Edwardian Wellington chest of eight graduated drawers £420; An antique oak Wellington chest of drawers £380; A Windsor loose leaf album containing a quantity of Great Britain stamps and one other album £230; A 20th Century musical box made by Reuge Sainte-Croix playing three separate tunes in cut glass case £210; An early 20th Century Persian carpet £190; A George I gold guinea £180; An Omega Seamaster 600 watch £180; A box containing a quantity of booklets of stamps commemorating various anniversaries £150; A large silver covered cigarette case made Chester 1908 £150; An unusual Arnold and Sons balling gun £140; An antique banjo barometer in mahogany case £130; A silver christening tankard made i London 1808 £120; An early 20th Century Persian carpet hand-made £120; A Wedgwood Colonnade part tea service £115; An antique style two-pillar desk on bracket feet £110; A Vienna-style wall clock with eight-day striking movement £110; A box containing a large quantity of Royal Anniversary and other proof coins £110; A pair of Cranberry lustre vases together with drops £110; A glass dome containing a preserved figure of a tawny owl £110; An oil painting on panel in gilt frame signed Moroney £105; An early 20th Century shop display counter £100; A small Edwardian mahogany in-laid three-drawer bow-fronted music cabinet £100.
