Names of teddies and sweets in jars are staple fundraisers of community fairs, but organisers of one Fenland event took a different approach when they held their summer fair at the weekend.
That’s because visitors to the summer fair at the Emmanuel Church in Parson Drove on Saturday were given the chance to guess how many balloons there were in a car. Organisers say the idea was a success and helped the event to raise around £1,000, which will go towards the ongoing work to replace the church’s roof. The church hosts two main fundraising fairs each year and a date for its Christmas fair has already been set for Saturday, December 3.
