Spectacular displays from the VE Day anniversary airshow were seen by families at a fun day in Sutton Bridge.

Grand celebrations at the Curlew Centre marked the 70th anniversary of VE Day, with an exhibition of memories and keepsakes from World War II, as well as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, including Spitfires and a Dakota bomber.

The celebrations coincided with an annual family fun day at the Memorial Park where many families attended and approximately £600-£700 was raised for the Curlew Centre.

The attractions included a rodeo, gladiator, archery demonstrations and a crazy golf course, plus a bar and barbecue, with sweet stalls for the youngsters.

Organiser Alan Barber said: “The day was brilliant and we’re very much looking forward to next year. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and the day was a huge success.”
