A parish council will be keeping its fingers crossed when an application for £15,102 towards a new play area is decided tomorrow.
Tydd St Giles Parish Council’s playground committee has asked Fenland District Council to help fund the play area redevelopment from its Rural Capital Grants Scheme, which supports projects in rural communities.
The council’s cabinet will decide whether or not to approve the application at its meeting tomorrow afternoon.
A report before the cabinet says the total cost of the new play area will be around £30,653, and match funding to cover the rest of the project has already been secured from the Brigstock and Wrens charity, local fundraising and through a developer contribution.
Councillors will be told a total of 16 grant applications have been approved since the council set up the fund in March 2010, totalling £621,000, and 13 of the schemes have now successfully been completed.
The report also says there is a total of £218,000 left in the scheme budget.
