Blazes caused by out-of-control bonfires in Turves and Newton yesterday

Fire crews attended two blazes caused by out-of-control bonfires yesterday.

At 3.45pm, crews from Wisbech were called to Cross Drove, Newton and used two hose reels and a light portable pump to get the fire under control, before returning to their station by 6.15pm.

Then, at 8.28pm, a crew from March rushed to Quakers Drove, Turves. They extinguished the fire before returning to their station by 10.15pm.
