Sutton Bridge family relieved missing cat found following son’s return from cancer treatment at Addenbrookes

A boy battling cancer has been reunited with his missing pet.

Jack Naish from Sutton Bridge, was just 10 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour following a routine eye appointment in 2023 and has recently returned home from Addenbrookes Hospital.

His family were desperate to find their missing cat Teddy before Jack returned home. It had vanished for nearly a week before turning up late on June 19.

Belinda McClements, Jack’s legal guardian, said: “Jack is over the moon.

“We had been out looking but had no luck.

“Then Teddy just walked in meowing.”

Brave Jack was recently taken in an ambulance and given emergency treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King’s Lynn for c-diff, which affected his sodium levels.

He is now on a trial drug and has been allowed home as long as he has daily blood tests at the QEH.

Belinda said: “His levels are okay and he is no longer having chemotherapy.

“Addenbrookes are waiting for a medicine, they have never treated a child with this at Addenbrookes.

“When it comes from America, we will be called back for a 72-hour observation period.”

Jack has taken comfort from the family pets in his long battle with cancer, and a special annexe at their home to aid his recovery is nearly finished.
