Bumper number of chartered accountant students for Fenland firm

Local accountants Mapus-Smith and Lemmon LLP have recently awarded another Chartered Accountant training contract to bring the total of students currently training for the qualification to six.

This is the most the firm has ever provided at the same time.

The firm has 17 trainees employed across its three offices, which are in Wisbech, King’s Lynn, and Downham Market. They are studying for an ACA, CIOT, AAT, or ATT qualification.

Senior partner Paul Farrow said: “As a firm we are continually expanding and our staff are our most important asset to ensure we provide the best possible service to our clients.

“To be able to train and retain our own staff has been key to our success. I started with the firm at the age of 16 and I look forward to seeing some of our current students achieving partnership in the future.”

Training partner Sharon Edwards said: “All of our students started with us after completing their A-Levels at a number of local colleges. We value our relationship with the local colleges who help promote the training contracts we provide on an annual basis.

“We provide training and support to enable them to gain their AAT qualification first before some move onto gaining further qualifications such as ACA. We also currently have one student who is completing a combined chartered accountant and tax advisor qualification, the first time we have been able to provide this as an option.”
