A charity aimed at granting treats for deserving local people raised around £10,000 at the weekend with just two events.
Organisers of a ball on Friday night and a family fun day on Sunday were absolutely stunned by the success of the events held in aid of A Local Wish.
Around 200 revellers enjoyed a ball in a marquee in the grounds of the home of David and Rachel Floyd in Elm on Friday, which included dancing to popular band The Vision.
The evening also included a charity auction and raffle and Nickie Bantoft, of Bantoft and Co who together with Christina Purcell of Holiday With Us started A Local Wish, was amazed at how generous people were in supporting the whole event.
On Sunday around 600 adults plus children attended the Party in the Park family fun day, which was again held at the Floyds home in Begdale Road. The day included live music, children’s entertainment and bouncy castles.
“The weekend was absolutely fantastic, both events have exceeded our expectations and we have raised about double what we were expecting,” said Nickie.
