The Countryside Alliance welcomes today’s announcement to scrap the fuel duty rise planned for September.

Chancellor George Osborne has recognised that rural motorists, who on average pay 25% more for their commute to work, are hardest hit when fuel prices are increased.

Cars are essential, not a luxury in the countryside, which is why we urge the Chancellor to extend the rural fuel rebate scheme to remote rural areas to ease the heavy burden of fuel on rural families.
