WISBECH Mayor Jonathan Farmer and his wife Susanah officially opened the newly revamped Boyalls Fish and Chip Shop in the town.

The premises in Norfolk Street has been taken over from long-term owner Chris Boyall by husband and wife team Victor and Elena Dimitrov.

The couple together with the shop’s four staff have been given training in the art of preparing traditional British fish and chips by Mr Boyall.

As well as all the usual tasty fare you would expect in a traditional fish and chip shop Boyalls - which is retaining the name at least in the short-term - also has a proper restaurant offering a continental menu.

There is also a patisserie and delicatessen.

Mr Dimitrov, who runs Gastranom which is also located in Norfolk Street, said the all meals are freshly prepared using local produce. The cakes are also baked on the premises.

The restaurant offers a three-course lunch for £5 - with a different menu every day.
