Precise Component Manufacture Limited (PCML) is very proud to announce success in the Manufacturing Technologies Association, Manufacturing Industry Awards 2013, where along with one of its key supply chain partners Haas Automation Limited, against intense national and international competition they won the Best Supplier Partnership Award.

PCML and Haas’s success was announced at the MTA Annual Gala Dinner (held at the ICC in Birmingham on March 27) and the award was presented to Kevin Miller (PCML Engineering Director) and Andrew Ward (Haas Operations Director) by Sky News Charlotte Hawkins who hosted the event and awards presenter Martin Walder, Chairman of the Engineering & Machinery Alliance

“I am absolutely delighted to have received the award on behalf of the PCML team”, says Kevin Miller.”What’s more I would like to thank everyone who voted for us including our customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders’ groups and for their continuing support”.

The awards were open to companies from across UK manufacturing, with recognition available for training schemes, supplier partnerships, outstanding apprentices and the most dynamic subcontractor.

The purpose of these awards is to highlight key successes in the engineering based manufacturing sector and celebrate achievement, innovation and excellence in Engineering based UK Manufacturing.

Precise Component Manufacture Ltd, manufacturers of complex precision-engineering components and assemblies for both national & international markets ( ) and HAAS Automation Ltd, the world’s largest manufacturer of CNC machine tools ( ), is an example of a high-value supplier partnership.

By winning the award PCML & Haas were able to demonstrate, initially to the short listing judging panel drawn from Senior MTA staff and subsequently to online judging by the general public, the part they both played in the initiation, development and growing commitment to partnership relationships.

“We both firmly believe an organization its customers and suppliers are interdependent, and a mutually beneficial relationship enhances the ability to create value for all parties. Furthermore we have always considered our company to be part of value chain teams, where true partnership working is vital to both commercial & industrial sector success and ultimately the economic well being of both our region and Country”, says Gavin Goates, Commercial Director, PCML.

A vital element in such a successful partnership has been the building of strong personal relationships, at all company levels. PCML and Haas have continually strengthened these core associations since 2001, when the first HAAS CNC machine was installed.

Use of this technology has enabled PCML to respond to customers increasing demands for the quickest turn around available on small batches of complex components at the most competitive price.

“More significantly our relationship with Haas and others has enabled us to develop our uniquely innovative ProcureSmart Service, which helps our customers to significantly reduce their component inventories, whilst at the same time guarantee availability when demanded by their customers”, says Gavin Goates.

Other benefits of the ProcureSmart Service include the ability to respond to customers engineering design changes as well as the ability to respond to sudden unexpected demand leading to a more efficient manufacturing process. Providing this type of service has put sustained pressure on PCML’s production facilities, however HAAS has supported PCML by sharing its expertise and ensuring the machine tools are run at maximum uptime and optimum performance.
