Merger for two major Fenland businesses

TWO long-standing Fenland companies are merging from October 1 to form one large business.

Maxey & Son and Grounds & Co will join forces to become Maxey Grounds & Co – Chartered Surveyors, Auctioneers, Valuers, Land and Estate Agents.

Both firms have a long history of advising clients on a wide range of property related matters in throughout eastern England and particularly in the East Anglian Fens; Grounds & Co since 1792 and Maxey & Son since 1856.

The merger means the breadth of expertise of all current partners and professional staff will be available to the clients of both businesses. T

he new business will see the existing Grounds & Co partners, Freddie Grounds and Geoffrey Brinton, joining up with the Maxey & Son Partners, Richard Allen, John Maxey and Simon Hickling. The new partnership is also delighted to welcome Shirley Pollard, who has been an associate of Grounds & Co for many years.

Maxey Grounds & Co will continue to offer a full range of professional property services to existing and new residential, commercial, agricultural and development clients, from offices in Wisbech, March and Chatteris and its Auction Hall in Wisbech.

“With roots very much in the Fens for many years, the two firms are both fiercely independent, and the expertise and standard of service we can offer to our clients, as principals controlling our own business, is very important to us all. The two businesses have similar but complementary strengths which made the merger a natural move to strengthen our position as one of the leading property advisors in the region,” said Freddie Grounds.

Leading the management of the new business will be the role of John Maxey who said: “The exceptional team formed by merging the experience and local knowledge of both firms partners and staff will, I am confident, make the new business a major force in the property profession in Fenland and the surrounding area.”
