Fenland MP Steve Barclay is urging small businesses to get involved in a nationwide celebration of the value and variety of small businesses to local high streets on Saturday Decemeber 7.
Small Business Saturday aims to encourage people to shop locally and support local businesses in their communities through promotions, offers and ideas that engage customers and build lasting relationships with them.
The day is intended to showcase the opportunities for growth available to small businesses on a changing high street.
Mr Barclay said: “I am urging small business owners in Cambridgeshire to get involved in Small business Saturday on 7th December. The day will provide a catalyst for small businesses to get their message across and ensure high streets like those in Wisbech and elsewhere in Fenland are able to adapt to the changing retail environment and continue to grow.
“We have some thriving local businesses in the community which are driving growth and jobs in Cambridgeshire and it’s vitally important that we show our support by buying local.
“By logging on to the Small Business Saturday website, new start-ups and established businesses can access guidance on how to use use promotions, offers and advertising to boost their profile and establish links with other local businesses in order to benefit from one another’s services and support.
“Small and medium sized businesses are an invaluable part of our local economy and provide the lifeblood to growth for our towns as well as creating jobs and boosting spending and growth.
“Small businesses deserve to know how valued they are in our local communities and I am keen that we take the opportunity to showcase the best of local business not just on Saturday but throughout the year.”
Small businesses owners in the region are receiving Government support in the form of National Insurance bill cuts through employment allowance, start-up loans and the British Business Bank. Small businesses can also benefit from small business rate relief.
