DELFLAND Nurseries Ltd at Doddington has completed its third successive Investors in People Review.

“The assessor’s report said that everyone was able to explain how they contribute to the success of the company and believe that their contribution is valued and appreciated,” said managing director John Overvoorde.

Ten members of staff also completed NVQ Level 2 Business Improvement Techniques – Process Improvement: Victoria Ayres, Andrew Clark, Joy Church, Sue Eglen, Colin Henson, Paul King, Lukas Lamacka, Chris Searle, Sean Searle and Dawn Veal. Chris Searle has also achieved NVQ Level 3 in Production Horticulture. Sean Searle (elder brother of Chris) and Norma Knock have completed 25 years’ service. In 1979 the entire nursery was growing lettuces for supermarkets. Five years later the first vegetable plug plants were propagated and the nursery now grows 40 million transplants a year. In 1997 the nursery was certified by the Soil Association and now about 50 percent of production is organic.
