A PUB chain wants to build a new pub and restaurant off the A141 in March.

Marston’s, which owns and runs over 500 pubs across England and Wales, has submitted a planning application to Fenland District Council to build a 751 square metre development on vacant land next to bungalows.

The development, which borders Hostmoor Avenue, will include a children’s play area and 58 car parking spaces, including two disabled and five staff spaces.

In the two-storey building will also be accommodation for a live-in manager.

In the plan submitted to FDC, Marston’s said: “Marston’s Inns & Taverns has developed a range of community style public houses throughout the country, many in locations such as this.

“The proposed development will provide local residential and business communities with a convivial meeting place. It will also provide an excellent destination and stopping point for weary travellers looking for good value refreshment.”

The detailed application also includes plans for design. Marston’s is planning to vary the height of the building to make it more interesting to look at and to add to the visual impression of a “roadside inn”.

Chimneys and a dormer window will also add to this image, with historical inns giving design inspiration.

If planning permission is granted, the company is hoping to get the development underway as soon as possible.
