TWO historic Wisbech hotels are set to be under new ownership following their sale by specialist estate agents Colliers International.
The White Lion on the Town Bridge has been sold and is set to undergo refurbishment ready for re-opening within a couple of months.
And an offer has also been made and accepted for the 600-year-old Rose and Crown Hotel on Market Place.
The White Lion, which has 13 bedrooms, closed in December and the Rose and Crown closed a few weeks ago after the Receivers were called in.
Ashley Clark, of Colliers International, said there had been a huge amount of interest in both establishments.
He commented: “There was a good level of interest when the hotel was launched to the market and undoubtedly the local buyer has identified the potential and demand for a quality hotel in the town.”
He said the sale of the Rose and Crown was still in the early stages but was confident that it would be completed fairly quickly.
Ashley further pointed out that hotels of this style play an important role providing a venue for functions to serve the needs of the town and bedrooms for commercial visitors to the region.”
