Busy A47 closed following crash between lorry and van- a 50 mile diversion is currently in place
Drivers are facing a 50 mile diversion this morning following a crash on the A47 between Wisbech and Guyhirn last night (Monday) which has led to the road being closed.
Emergency services were called to the A47 at around 11.55pm last night to reports of a collision between an HGV and a van.
Two fire crews attended and firefighters used specialist cutting equipment released one casualty from their vehicle. Another casualty was out of their vehicle when crews arrived. Both casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance.
The crews returned to their station by 2am.
Police have warned the road will remain closed until later this morning.
The recommended diversion will take drivers onto the A141 towards Chatteris and then to Ely before picking up the A10 to head north towards King’s Lynn.
Those going in the opposite direction are being told to head along the A1101 to Outwell, out to the A10 and onto Ely before heading back through Chatteris and along the A141 to Ring’s End.
