Cambridgeshire high sheriff arrives in March

The High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire and 17 walkers arrived in March on Friday during the first day of her 70 mile charity trek.

Linda Fairbrother is undertaking the six day Coast to Cambridge trek

She was welcomed to Fenland Hall by Fenland District Council chairman Ken Mayor and presented with a £1,207.59 cheque for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Sipping a well-earned cup of tea, Mrs Fairbrother said: “My calves are telling me it was tougher than expected but it has been great fun walking through the Fens with my hat and feathers and of course my sword.”

Twelve people had accompanied her on the first leg, which took them on a winding, 12-mile trail from Wisbech. They were joined at Friday Bridge by David Hodgson, and by another four walkers.
