UP to 20 volunteer trainee facilitators are being recruited to deliver Teens and Toddlers in Fenland.

Established in Fenland in 2009, Teens and Toddlers is an evidence-based programme of targeted intervention for at-risk young boys and girls.

It is both a youth development programme, raising self esteem, aspiration and educational attainment and a teenage pregnancy prevention and sexual health programme.

Feedback from previous years has shown that Teens and Toddlers has made a difference to the lives of the young people involved and, that both they and the volunteers have enjoyed the programme.

Volunteers are asked to commit for a minimum of 12 months and preferably for two years.

The programme begins with a three-day induction, followed by initial support for, and the delivery of, two Teens and Toddlers projects.

This takes place in a supported environment for one morning a week.

Volunteers also receive nine days training. This covers group facilitation, the developmental needs of adolescents, working with at risk young people, coaching skills, experiential learning and much more.

Some volunteers may choose to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work, but this is not compulsory.

• Volunteer drivers are urgently needed for Community Transport in Fenland, particularly for the Wisbech Community Car Scheme.

This helps those who are unable to make essential journeys by any other means.

The Wisbech and Fenland Museum’s Friends’ Volunteer secretary has retired after 56 years.

His commitment and expertise will be sadly missed. This leaves a vacancy.
