Celebrating Street Pride in Fenland

Hard-working volunteers who keep Fenland looking tidy have celebrated a milestone anniversary.

Nearly 90 volunteers from all over Fenland packed the Braza Club in March on Thursday for a big celebration evening marking the 10th birthday of Street Pride.

They included not just Street Pride members but also representatives from local In Bloom and Friends groups, reflecting their increasingly close co-operation.

The scheme was launched in 2005. There are now 12 active Street Pride groups and a total of more than 300 volunteers working with 23 different groups on all sorts of environmental projects across Fenland.

Cllr Peter Murphy, Fenland District Council’s cabinet member responsible for the environment, said: “This evening is a time to say thank you to all the committed and dedicated groups of volunteers for all your enthusiasm and hard work for the benefit of everyone. Well done!” Photo: SUPPLIED
