Residents at a Fenland care home were encouraged to reminisce during a 1940s day.
Staff at the Swan Care Home in Chatteris organised a fun-packed event for the residents. John Saunders brought in a range of memorabilia from the period, including a number of household items such as food and soap powder, along with a washboard. This collection helped to bring back many memories for residents. The team had also arranged for a singer to come in and entertain residents with songs from the era. Some staff members also enjoyed dressing up in clothing from the 1940s. Anne Richmond, manager of the home, which is based in Swan Drive, New Road, said the event was a big success. She added: “The aim of the event was to encourage our residents to reminisce. It is amazing how different things were then.” Residents and staff are pictured stepping back into the 1940s PICTURE: ADAM FAIRBROTHER MFCP15AF04182
