The wait is nearly over for people in Chatteris who have been without a supermarket for more than a year.

Tomorrow Aldi will be opening its new store in Bridge Street.

Bradley Denny, who competes in archery for Team GB, will be cutting the ribbon alongside store manager Vicky Jones.

To celebrate the grand opening, 100 golden envelopes, containing special prizes such as a television, drone cameras and tablet PCs, will be given out.

Aldi will also be donating £100 and a range of products to the 2nd Chatteris Scout Group, along with providing a product donation to Chatteris in Bloom. Manager Ms Jones said: “We’re looking forward to the opening of the new Chatteris store and we’re hoping for a great turnout from the local community as there are plenty of golden ticket prizes up for grabs.

“We expect to see plenty of shoppers on Thursday take advantage of our opening week offers, in addition to our range of products at everyday low prices.”

The opening of the store, located on Bridge Street, has created 35 jobs for the local community and Aldi is still recruiting for a variety of roles in the surrounding areas.
