A council hopes the sentencing of a woman for a parking office will serve as a warning to others.

Jenny Rule, of Treeway, Chatteris, was fined £220 at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court last week after failing to provide information about the identity of the driver of a car that had exceeded the two-hour parking restriction in March Market Place. She was also ordered to pay £75 costs and a £22 victim surcharge in the case, brought to court by Fenland Council. Councillor Peter Murphy, the council’s cabinet member responsible for the environment, said: “I hope this conviction will serve as a warning to others that our Street Scene officers won’t hesitate to take action whenever they see them being ignored.”
