Wisbech fitness instructor Lisa Crane put her skills to good use raising £1,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society by donating the fees from five continuous exercise classes at the Hudson Leisure Centre’s Fitness Fun Day.
Lisa was thanked for her efforts at a Christmas Party on Tuesday at the Hill Street Baptist Church held for people living with dementia and their carers. The party was attended by Wisbech Mayor Viv MacRae. Alzheimer’s Society local support group facilitator Kim Nott and locality manager Tina Kierman said a big ‘thank you’ to Lisa and everyone for their donation, which will help with running local services.
The Society has Peer Support and Activity Groups in Wisbech, March and Chatteris which provide social support for people with memory problems and their carers and offers a variety of activities including games, quizzes and handicrafts. They provide Dementia Information Points, a Carer Information and Support Programme and a Dementia Advisor service - all of which can be accessed through the Fenland office on 01945 580460
